2024-2025 Boychoir Season: Celebration

The Cincinnati Boychoir Apprentices are the beginning ensemble of the organization. Unlike many youth choral organizations, our youngest singers receive instruction from the same passionate, skilled, and creative educators who teach our most experienced singers. As they learn foundational vocal, musical, and ensemble skills, they also receive direct instruction in how to represent the Cincinnati Boychoir well in public and how to contribute positively to a team. 

Prospective Apprentices may audition at any time throughout the season. Boys who audition after September 30 will be able to start in January 2025. Boys who audition after February 28 will be able to start in the fall session of the 2025-2026 season. Tuition will be prorated as necessary.

Who: Boys in grades 3-6

The Cincinnati Boychoir JourneyMen are the intermediate level ensemble of the organization, having spent at least one year in our beginning ensemble, the Apprentices. At this crucial stage of development, singers are encouraged to use their musical, vocal, and social skills to learn more complex music and to act as mentors for their younger peers.

JourneyMen are expected to join the Boychoir in September and stay throughout the season.

Who: Boys in grades 4-8

The Treble Ambassadors comprise singers whose voices are unchanged or in the early stages of voice change. These singers have proven to be excellent musicians who are up to the musical challenge of performing in a mixed (soprano, alto, tenor, bass) ensemble, have developed the rehearsal technique to be in an advanced ensemble, and are prepared to help mentor younger singers.   

Treble Ambassadors are expected to join the Boychoir in September and stay throughout the season. 

Who: Any boy with a changed voice

The Tenor-Bass Ambassadors are both a standalone tenor-bass ensemble and part of the mixed ensemble. Most singers in this ensemble have been with the Cincinnati Boychoir long enough to acquire the musicianship and rehearsal skills to meet the demands of performing advanced tenor-bass and mixed choir repertoire. Less frequently, a singer whose voice has changed will audition and be placed directly in the Tenor-Bass Ambassadors. Young men in this situation usually have the drive and passion to quickly catch up to the skill level of those who have developed their skills with the Cincinnati Boychoir. We are careful to balance the experience of being a mentor with meeting the unique vocal and social needs of male-identifying adolescents. 

Tenor-Bass Ambassadors are expected to join the Boychoir in September and stay throughout the season. 

Who: Any boy in grade 5-12 who has been invited to audition and is willing to commit to the full season
