The Cincinnati Boychoir enrolls boys from over 100 schools in the Greater Cincinnati area, and that number keeps growing! Local music teachers foster a love and interest in music for so many boys, and it is most often their encouragement and recommendation that starts their most motivated and talented boys on their Cincinnati Boychoir journey!
Teachers can get involved in the following ways:
Teacher Recommendation Letter:
Please fill out the teacher recommendation letter and send it with interested boys in grades 2-12 to one of our 3 audition dates at the Aronoff Center for the Arts each year (September – January – April)
If you are interested in having the Director of Education & Outreach, KellyAnn Nelson, visit your school and audition interested boys, please contact her directly at firstname.lastname@example.org to schedule an in-school audition in the 2 weeks prior to the Aronoff audition dates listed above. Please find forms for on-site auditions by clicking here.
All-City Boychoir Festival
On a Saturday in October, the Cincinnati Boychoir hosts our annual All-City Boychoir Festival at the gorgeous Procter & Gamble Hall at the Aronoff Center for the Arts. We invite teachers to send boys in grades 1-12 to participate in the festival where hundreds of boys from all over the city come together! They will learn music, make friends, have fun and put together a concert which they present at the end of the day. We offer separate tracks for boys with unchanged and changed voices. Registration is FREE and includes a Festival t-shirt and snacks. Boys do NOT need to prepare anything in advance
In addition, we host a free teacher workshop held at the same time as the All-City Boychoir Festival. Teachers can earn .3 CEUs and participate while their students attend the festival. Sign up online or by checking the box at the bottom of the teacher registration form.
Registration forms will be available in the fall.
Every summer the Cincinnati Boychoir holds a summer camp called Passport to Music. Boys entering grades 2 – 6 will sing, drum, make, eat, and play as they travel via music to a foreign destination. No previous choir experience required – this is a half-day camp program designed to be a fun musical adventure.
Passport to Music Young Singers Program
Beginning in September 2018, we are launching two new programs for boys who want to try choir without the pressure of an audition or mainstage concert performance. These programs are six-week sessions filled with singing, games, and drumming all with a travel and storytelling theme.
- Passport to Music Class is geared toward pre-readers age 5-8.
- Passport to Singing Class is geared toward 7-10 year olds.
In the 2018-2019 season, we will offer three sessions of each program. More details available here.
Teacher Appreciation Concerts
Music Teachers will be recognized and thanked at one concert each semester, but music teachers are always invited to attend Cincinnati Boychoir concerts for free. Please email Tammy Gentile, Assistant Director of Ticketing Services at tgentile[at]cincinnatiarts.org to claim your free ticket to any Cincinnati Boychoir concert!
Music Teachers can always borrow music from the Cincinnati Boychoir Library. Please click here to see what pieces we have, and email Director of Education & Outreach, KellyAnn Nelson if you are interested in checking music for your own students out of the Boychoir Library.
