Teacher’s Corner

Dear Music Teachers,

Greetings! Welcome to the Cincinnati Boychoir. For 45 years, we have been providing a music education to boys of all walks of life, and now more than ever it is important that we reach out to boys in communities that might not otherwise have opportunities like this.

But you already know this. In fact, most boys join the Boychoir as a result of a recommendation from their music teacher – you.

We hope you will continue to recommend boys for our program (click here); we are proud to be able to offer experiences that boys wouldn’t otherwise have, whether it be touring, performing with the Cincinnati Opera, or recording a CD.

DSC_0483Myths about joining the Boychoir

1) Boys must have a magnificent voice in order to audition.
No way! It’s our job to teach them to sing beautifully.

2) Boys must have previous musical training in order to join.
We have programs for all levels of experience, including our Boychoir Academy program for first, second, and third-graders.

3) The audition will be scary.
Auditioning can be scary, so we do our best to make each boy feel comfortable. The whole thing usually only lasts about five minutes!

As a music teacher, we hope you will get involved with the Boychoir! Please check back to this page for updates and blog posts about music, teaching, and singing, and we welcome your thoughts.

If you would like to recommend a boy, or would like to attend a concert free of charge, please contact us!

Happy music!

Chris Eanes
Artistic Director
