First Steps: Joining the Cincinnati Boychoir
Every great experience begins with one courageous step. To sing in a choir, that step is the audition. At the Boychoir, this is a friendly, informative, and educational encounter for boys and their parents, and we hope that if you know a boy who loves music, you will help him take this life-changing step.
Boys try out at one of our open auditions in September, January, or April. Auditions take place with one of our current choirs, so that new boys can experience a full rehearsal. During the rehearsal, boys will be auditioned separately in small groups. The audition is short, usually about five minutes. The boy is asked to listen to a few notes and sing them, and then to sing a familiar song such as Happy Birthday.
If you are interested in setting up an audition time, please see one of the directors after a concert or call our office. A recommendation from the boy’s school music teacher is desirable: teacher recommendation letter December 2015
