Audition
Each year, the Cincinnati Boychoir auditions approximately 75 new boys for the Training Choir program; not all will make it, but those that do are on the road to creating for themselves new friendships, new experiences, and a lifelong love of music. The Cincinnati Boychoir strives to provide each boy with a well-rounded social and intellectual education in addition to teaching him the fundamentals of music through quality repertoire and significant performing opportunities. Each boy that comes to us is treated with dignity and respect and is expected to behave accordingly.
Auditions are held in September, January, and May. In addition, any boy that participates in SongFest Summer Music Camp for Boys is auditioned during the camp.
Next auditions for the Boychoir will take place Monday, January 9th, 2012, 6:15 – 7:30 pm. Click here to make an audition appointment.
Auditions will take place during a regular rehearsal of the Tour Choir (our most advanced ensemble), and parents are welcome to stay and observe. Boys will be auditioned in small groups during the rehearsal (apart from the large group). Each boy will be asked to match a pitch on the piano, repeat short pitch patterns, and to sing a familiar song like “Happy Birthday”.
Families will be notified of acceptance by mail or email within one week of the audition.
Auditions are open to any boy entering the third through fifth grades; it is encouraged to obtain aTeacher Recommendation Letter Winter 2011-12.
