For Immediate Release
The Cincinnati Boychoir turns fifty this year, and a number of events are planned for the celebration. The Boychoir is reaching out to all of the alumni of the organization, a number that likely exceeds 4,000 men from throughout the region. Alumni are invited to join current and previous directors of the Boychoir on stage for the group’s final spring showcase performance.
However, many other events are planned as well.
• An alumni sing will take place at the Aronoff Center at 10 am on Saturday, April 18, under the direction of Boychoir Director Emeritus Randall Wolfe, former director Bryan Mock, and current director Christopher Eanes. All ages of alumni are invited to come back and relive their Boychoir memories!
• A Gala Celebration of the Boychoir’s fifty year history will take place at Xavier University’s Cintas Center on Saturday, April 18. Alumni of the Boychoir, former parents, and friends of the group are all invited to take part in the festivities, which will include a short performance by the Tour Choir, a video history of the Boychoir produced by urban arts center Elementz, as well as several special announcements.
More information as well as registration for the gala can be found online at: www.cincinnatiboychoir.org/gala
• Showcase concerts for the fiftieth anniversary weekend take place at 3pm and 6pm on Sunday, April 19 in the Jarson-Kaplan Theater at the Aronoff Center for the Arts. Alumni will be invited to join current boys on stage for this family-friendly all-ages show. The choirs will sing repertoire from the Boychoir’s fifty-year history, much of which was arranged or composed specially for the Cincinnati Boychoir.
Other events marking the fiftieth anniversary include the release of their newest CD, as well as a book history of the Boychoir entitled, “Cincinnati Boychoir: The First Fifty Years,” authored by former Cincinnati Enquirer reporter Kathleen Doane.
