Two major Boychoir appearances for the 2010 season were announced recently: first, the Boychoir will be performing as part of the Cincinnati May Festival’s season, in their production of Bach’s St. Matthew Passion, on Saturday, May 15th at Music Hall. Music Director James Conlon will conduct the May Festival Chorus and Orchestra. Bach’s score calls for children’s chorus on the opening and closing movements of the first half. This will mark the first time in recent history that the Boychoir has appeared on a May Festival program, though the Boychoir was initially founded in 1965 to serve the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra.
Additionally, on Sunday, May 16th, Boychoir member Julien Thomas (New Vienna, OH) will be singing the treble solo in Benjamin Britten’s Festival Te Deum at the May Festival’s Chorus’ annual concert at the Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption in Covington, KY. May Festival Music Director James Conlon will conduct the concert.
